How It Works

From first call to first day.

Fill out our confidential form and an admissions specialist will reach out, usually within the same day.

Before You Arrive

Five tips to prepare for residential treatment.

A little planning before you enter the program frees you up to focus on the work that matters most: your recovery.

1

Handle work and family responsibilities

Entering residential treatment means staying on-site for many days. Letting your employer and family know ahead of time makes everything easier. The law grants up to 12 weeks of medical leave if you’ve been with your employer for at least a year, and your job is protected while you receive treatment — so don’t let that fear keep you from getting help.

2

Address legal or financial issues

Speak with a lawyer about any pending legal matters so they can work on your behalf while you’re in care. Arrange for someone to cover loan payments or bills. The last thing you want is to stress about a water bill while you’re doing the internal work of recovery.

3

Set realistic expectations

Substance use disorders are chronic, relapsing conditions. A month in residential care is the first step in a lifelong process — go in ready for hard work, with optimism but also patience. Relapse doesn’t mean the treatment failed; it means more care may be needed.

4

Spend time with loved ones

Residential programs can feel long because of the depth of internal work. Spend time with family beforehand, make sure they know how to contact the center, and give us their contact info too. The connection with loved ones is motivation for both of you.

5

Make a list of goals after treatment

Write down what you want to accomplish once you’re sober and out of care — small goals, social goals, work goals, relationship goals. No goal is too small. Just be careful not to set unrealistic ones that could hurt your recovery later.

Mindset

Dos and don’ts of residential treatment.

Do

Put your sobriety first for long-term recovery.

Actively take steps each day to promote and maintain your recovery.

Learn to be humble.

Practice mindfulness and focus on the present.

Practice self-care.

Take care of yourself and make time for yourself.

Keep it simple.

Don’t make too many changes when you first enter recovery.

Don’t

Compare your recovery to others.

The recovery process and journey are unique to the individual.

Be afraid to fail.

The recovery process is not a one-time thing.

Be afraid to ask for help.

You are not alone, and you do not need to embark on this journey alone.

Be fooled into thinking you are cured.

Sobriety is something you need to work on every single day.

Our Community

House rules at ATC.

Six simple principles that keep our community safe, dignified, and focused on recovery for everyone.

  Respect Yourself & Others

We are a community built on dignity and compassion. Treat fellow clients, staff, and visitors with respect. Discrimination, harassment, threats, or bullying will not be tolerated.

  Honor Privacy & Confidentiality

What is shared in groups or within the community stays within this community. Everyone deserves confidentiality and trust in their recovery process.

  Substance-Free Environment

Alcohol, drugs, unauthorized medications, and related paraphernalia are strictly prohibited. If you’re struggling, reach out to staff immediately — we’re here to help, not punish.

  Safe & Clean Space

A clean, organized space supports wellness for all. Take responsibility for your living area and report safety concerns to staff as soon as you notice them.

  Participate in Your Treatment

Recovery works best when you’re engaged. Attend scheduled groups, appointments, and activities. If barriers come up, let staff know so we can support you.

  Follow Staff & Program Guidance

Staff are here to support your safety and success. Follow program schedules, curfew times, and check-in procedures. If you have concerns, talk with us.
